UW Lab School - Library Media/Technology Specialist Position (K-8)
The Library Media/Technology Specialist supports the curriculum and instruction needs of the K-8 students and teachers at the UW Lab School through a partnership with the University of Wyoming Libraries' Learning Resource Center (LRC).

Qualifications: Candidates must hold, or be eligible to hold, a certificate issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with a library media endorsement and have completed a teacher preparation program and/or educational degree. A graduate degree in Library and Information Studies or Instructional Technology is preferred.

The Library Media/Technology Specialist will support the development of the K-8 program at the UW Lab School by:
  • Collaborating with the LRC staff, school principal, and classroom and specialist teachers to support learning goals during library times as well as in the classrooms
  • Providing informational literacy/research instruction following best practices of the Association of School Library Association (AASL) standards
  • Organizing resources to complement learning classroom units of instruction
  • Participating in grade level and/or content area collaborative meetings to stay abreast as to what is being learned in the classrooms
  • Developing research and learning strategies to complement curriculum and instruction goals
  • Supporting student learning of grade level technology standards
  • Maintaining a collection of current professional resources for teachers
  • Developing and implementing curriculum for technology, information literacy, STEM/STEAM, and makerspace
  • Participating in professional development to enhance teaching and student's learning
  • Contributing to the professional development of others, giving support and willingly sharing resources and ideas

The Library Media/Technology Specialist will promote an appreciation of literature and enjoyment in recreational and informational reading at all grade levels. The Specialist will ensure the accessibility of current and relevant resources to both teachers and students. The Specialist will also contribute to the continued growth and maintenance of the collection as well as help LRC staff with circulation and other services to University faculty and students, as well as the general public.

  • Experience in project based learning and integration of content areas
  • K-8 teaching experience
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic
