Job Summary Works with students enrolled a Career and Technical Education (C.T.E.) program to enable students to fully understand all aspects of their chosen program and post-secondary education options. Maintains relationships with the community college or small businesses in the neighborhood of the school. Provides information and/or direction to students, parents, teachers and administrators about career and educational services available to eligible students. Provides resources for programs. Maintains student level data and generates reports and promotes programs with students, staff, parents, and community. Facilitates linkages with parents, professional organizations, business/industry, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to support students' transition to postsecondary education, employment, and internships.
Essential Functions
Both Specialties
  • Provides intense direct support to students enrolled in a Dual Enrollment or C.T.E. program.
  • Coordinates career development services and promotes career awareness, exploration, and planning.
  • Provides career development, occupational, labor market, non-traditional career, and post-secondary information.
  • Supports partnerships that promote the goals and mission of the Dual Enrollment, Career and Technical Education or the Opportunity Network program and recruits students for special initiatives.
  • Coordinates career planning activities in classrooms, groups, or individual sessions.
  • Provide information on post-secondary education programs and employment opportunities.
  • Assists students with post-secondary education and employment opportunities.
  • Compiles data from a variety of sources for the purpose of evaluating program success and/or complying with financial, legal, administrative and federal monitoring requirements.
  • Promotes the use of technology for career planning and research.
  • Participates in professional activities at the local, regional, state, and national levels.
  • Engages in professional growth opportunities to remain current with trends, demands, and emerging careers in a rapidly changing workforce.
Additional Function for the Career and Technical Education Specialty
  • Provides and coordinates administration and interpretation of career assessments and industry certifications.
  • Organizes tutoring/study group sessions around industry certification prep.
  • Provides and coordinates activities for students to develop employability skills.
  • Promotes the integration of career research and work-based learning opportunities into C.T.E. and academic courses.
  • Issues working papers.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience which has included responsibility for project/program planning and implementation and/or administration, career development activities, program recruitment or marketing responsibilities and has involved working with high school age students and high needs families.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:
  • the methods, and techniques used in effective project/program planning, design, and administration.
  • the processes involved in short and long-range project/program planning.
  • the business, community and work-based opportunities available for students.

Demonstrated ability to:
  • develop and implement programmatic activities to ensure the successful transition of students into post-secondary opportunities.
  • develop strong partnerships between the District and local businesses, community organizations, universities and colleges.
  • use a personal computer.
  • effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Salary: From: 48694.00

Additional Job Information: This is a 12-month, PFT-represented position. Interviews may be conducted to determine how well a candidate meets the established criteria. Note that not all qualified candidates may be selected for an interview. Additional factors including the ability to follow directions, punctuality and professional conduct will be considered in part of the evaluation process. The selected candidate must have no anecdotal record on file and have not been subject to any disciplinary action within the past eighteen (18) months, and have an excellent record of attendance and punctuality during the last three (3) years (defined as no more than eighteen (18) occasions of lateness or absence for personal illness in the last three years (3) years with the exception of one extended long-term absence.
