Provides guidance and support to staff and parents regarding FCPS PreK and Early Head Start students with disabilities and coordinates the special education referral process; leads disabilities team and works collaboratively with and guides the early childhood central office staff and other service/support agencies in identifying and supporting PreK and Early Head Start students with disabilities; Plans and implements professional development for staff that includes awareness and appropriate planning for diverse needs of participants; Organizes curriculum revision projects and develops, disseminates, and/or implements early childhood instructional programs and materials for general or special student populations; serves as a resource for region, school, and departmental staff.

Qualifications:
Postgraduate Professional License or Pupil Personnel License with endorsements in early childhood special education, plus five years of progressively more responsible successful teaching experience related to specialty, some of which may have been in a supervisory or administrative role (i.e. head teacher, department chair, etc.). Equivalent education and experience may be considered. Endorsement in administration and supervision preK-12 preferred. Knowledge of FCPS curriculum, instructional goals, procedures, and practices in the field of specialization; knowledge of growth and development and learning theory in specialty; knowledge of special education law, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B&C, policies, regulations and procedures; skill in assessment and evaluation of students with special needs or in special programs; skill in inclusive early childhood best practices; skill in teaching adult learners; ability to manage curriculum development, in-service training, and related activities and provide a high level of instructional leadership and collaboration for teachers and administrators; excellent human relations skills and ability to establish and maintain successful cooperative working relationship with appropriate school communities, families, and school-based and central office staff; and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
