CLASS TITLE : Early Intervention Assistant (Part-time, contracutual)

REPORTS TO: Office of Special Education

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :
• Attend training sessions with Resource Teacher.
• Implement home program as designed by the Resource Teacher.
• Collect data at each session on target goals (as established with Resource Teacher).
• Complete all documentation necessary for each session (data, time sheet etc.).
• Create instructional materials in collaboration with Resource Teacher per the home program. (Refrain from purchasing reinforcements and instructional materials).
• Communicate with Resource Teacher regarding student progress and changes in student program.
• Seek clarification from Resource Teacher regarding procedures and implementation whenever needed (including when additional instructional materials are needed).
• Refer parental concerns to the Resource Teacher.
• Consult with Resource teacher when changes to the instructional program appear warranted.
• Contact Resource Teacher immediately if concerns arise.
• Conduct session only under parental/guardian supervision.
• Maintain IEP designated hours of service and document on approved timesheet.
• Maintain professional relationship with family as related to the instructional program.
• Provide and keep phone numbers of all key players in home program.
• In the event of absence or tardiness, notify family and Resource Teacher via email and/or phone.

• Maintain professional dress.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education, Training, and Experience:

Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Skill in verbal communications.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to provide assistance and support services to students.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, and school system personnel.
Physical and Environmental Conditions: The work of this class entails physical activities such as walking and standing, lifting and carrying, and related physical duties associated with assisting students.

SALARY : $ 12.48 per hour

A criminal offense does not necessarily exclude an applicant from employment with BCPS. Factors such as passage of time since the offense, the nature of the violation, and the extent of rehabilitation will be taken into consideration.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (State of Maryland, Senate Bill 315, effective October 1, 1986) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $81.00. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
  • Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
