Job Information
Job Summary:

Music teachers report to their respective division principals, as well as the Music Department Chair.
Music teachers are responsible for the planning and delivery of curriculum, as well as supervision of students both in and outside of the classroom. They must also work collaboratively with members of their department, and the school community as a whole.

Responsibilities :

• Music teachers have the responsibility to monitor, assess, and report on the progress of students.
  
• Members of the music department are expected to plan for and participate in the scheduled performances, contests, and recitals, for the academic year.
  
• Students participate in concerts, festivals, and Solo & Ensemble Contests.
  

All teachers are expected to perform in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and are expected to work the required days as stipulated in that agreement.

The anticipated start date for this position is 9/1/19.

Additional Requirements
Education, Experience or Certifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in music education or music required.
  
• Master's degree in music education or music preferred.
  

Experience:

• Middle school music classroom experience required.
  
• Experience should include the teaching of both beginning and intermediate students, in large settings.
  

Physical Requirements for Teaching Positions:

• Ability to move in and around the classroom/building to interact with students, faculty, staff, parents, and other members of the community.
  
• Ability to move class-related equipment/tools, as appropriate, around school property
  
• When appropriate, the ability to escort children from one classroom to another, in and out of the building during arrival and dismissal, and in an emergency situation.
  
• Ability to demonstrate lessons, when appropriate.
