RESPONSIBILITIES

Higher Institute of Arts and Technology Elementary/Middle School (HIAT) is seeking an Art Teacher that will provide art instruction to our K - 8th grade scholars, allowing children the opportunity to develop an appreciation for the visual arts and display their creative abilities. Our Art Teachers encourage experiential learning in the areas of two and three-dimensional development as-well-as lead lessons and activities for scholars that support core learning objectives.

PLA educators deliver group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborate with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators; and proactively engage dialogue with students' parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress. During non-classroom times, Art Teachers may function in other support capacities (learning labs, hallway monitoring, etc.),

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college
  • Indiana Teaching Certificate or out of state equivalent, preferred
  • A passion for working with students and families in under-served communities
  • High sense of possibility; an unwavering commitment that every student receives a quality instruction and achieves at high levels
  • Demonstrates a wide range of instructional techniques based on instructional and content-based best practices
  • High proficiency of grade-level standards, benchmarks, and curriculum
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
