The School District of Clayton is seeking a highly qualified, elementary teacher for Glenridge Elementary School for the 2019-2020 school year. This is a one-year assignment. The District has a rigorous curriculum that requires creative instructional strategies to build a strong foundation of learning. Balanced Literacy is a component of our elementary curriculum as well as an inquiry approach to Science and Social Studies. Elementary teachers, grades K-5, are expected to have a minimum content proficiency at or above Basic Algebra. We seek teachers that have solid math content knowledge, are able to communicate and teach for conceptual understanding of mathematics and use effective pedagogy.

The Successful Candidate:
Holds high expectations for all students and sees themselves as a facilitator of student learning
Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings
Assesses student progress, provides students and parents with specific feedback, and uses the results to differentiate instruction
Provides opportunities for academic support and challenge
Takes responsibility for teaching the District curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents
Demonstrates an understanding of how knowledge in their subject areas is created, organized, and linked to other disciplines and life experiences
Keeps abreast of current developments in their field and continues to deepen their understanding of their discipline(s)
Demonstrates a respectful, cooperative, and caring manner with students and adults in the school community
Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. Successful candidates must be proficient at the Basic Algebra level. An assessment will be given to ensure proficiency.
Certification: Missouri teacher certification, with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
Experience: Preferred.
