Our Albert D. Lawton middle school is searching for Soccer coaches for the following teams for their fall 2019-20 season:
- Boys Team A
- Boys Team B
- Girls Team A
We are looking for a committed individual who will be able to coach soccer in a competitive and sportsmanlike manner. A minimum of two years of varsity level soccer experience (or equivalent) required. Experience working with middle school students preferred. A team coach positions are paid $2,206 for the season; B team coaches are paid $1,998 for the season.
All coaches must be at least 18 years of age or a high school graduate at the commencement of the sport season for which the person has been appointed to coach. Candidates must also meet the certification and training requirements of the VPA, which requires certification in Sports First Aid and Fundamentals in Coaching within one year of hire. Acceptable certifications include ASEP (American Sport Education Program) certification or NFHS (National Federation of High Schools). For more information about certification, please visit www.asep.com or www.nfhs.org.
The VPA also requires coaches to complete the NFHS elective course entitled, "CONCUSSION IN SPORTS - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW." This is an online course that can be found at www.nfhslearn.com , and it is free of charge. All coaches must complete this 20 minute course before they can coach at the high school/middle school level in Vermont.
