RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY Support the compliance of the state legislative implementation and reporting of the Colorado READ Act and student readiness planning. Work in collaboration with schools and central staff to implement the many initiatives defined within Jeffco's P3 (Preschool through Third Grade) teaching, learning, and assessment supports. Support schools in moving instructional decision making from "compliance" to best instructional practices for teachers, students, and learning environments. Assist the department leadership in developing and implementing departmental practices, policies and procedures in addition to the demands of the P3 Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Collaborate in the design and implementation of ongoing professional learning for P3 classrooms aligned with the Strategic Plan, the District Unified Improvement Plan (DUIP) and School Unified Improvement Plans. This includes working with individual teachers, teacher teams and facilitators, early childhood instructor partners, Educational Research and Design and central department colleagues, school instructional leaders, and administrators.

Maintain specific budgets and/or grants for P3.

Co-create and implement new teacher induction process for licensed teachers, ECIs (Early Childhood Instructor) and ECIPs (Early Childhood Instructor Partner) in collaboration with the district induction coordinator and colleagues in Educational Research and Design.

Facilitate Curriculum and Instruction Leadership in knowing and understanding all aspects of preschool through third grade in the district and therefore performing duties that support teachers, central department colleagues, principals, and parents in making decisions concerning preschool through third-grade transitions, Jeffco preschool curriculum, and available programming.

Analyze and use District, school, and classroom data to assist in measuring progress and provide clarity around student performance in order to purposefully guide instructional decision making with equitable access in mind. This work includes collaborative implementation of P3 Best Instructional Practices and the KEA/K3 (Kindergarten Early Assessment/Kindergarten-Third Grade Whole Child Formative Assessment) developmental assessment in kindergarten through 3rd grade.

Coordinate P-3 initiative work in collaboration with Instructional Data Services (IDS), Early Childhood Education (ECE), and English Language Arts (ELA). Create and implement opportunities for making connections between curriculum, instruction, and assessment (data and responsive instruction).

Co-create, facilitate, monitor and adjust multiple P3 and Curriculum and Instruction projects with visible outcomes for students, teachers and schools.

Travel to school sites as needed.

EXPERIENCE Minimum 5 years successful PreK-3 teaching experience required, advanced degree or comparable experience preferred.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Bachelor's degree, valid Colorado teaching license or certificate. Driver's License and Insurance.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Must possess demonstrated skills that provide coordinated, purposeful, deliberate actions focused on improving instruction practices in the pre-K through 3rd grade classroom and thus increasing student achievement using co-planning; providing non-evaluative feedback; modeling and co-teaching; and broad-based training. Ability to coordinate resources both at the school and with the District, and facilitate feedback from trainers to ensure implementation with fidelity.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to travel between schools/sites served. Normal routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee splits time between office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level and elementary school environment where noise can be moderate to loud. Employee may be exposed to fumes and outside conditions when traveling.

SAFETY TO SELF AND OTHERS Moderate risk of injury due to typing and other office tasks. Moderate risk of injury due to traffic accidents. Potential exposure to bruises, bites, cuts, spitting, kicking, hitting and scratches in classroom environments.

SPAN OF CONTROL This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
