ABOUT THE DISTRICT

Jeffco Public Schools, Colorado's largest K-12 school district, with 85,000 students and approximately 14,000 employees, has provided educational excellence for more than 60 years. Nearly 10 percent of all Colorado K-12 students attend a Jeffco school and our employees benefit from partnerships with experienced, dynamic school leaders throughout our district. Our Jeffco Generations vision document and strategic plan map out with focus and clarity what we expect our schools to accomplish with our graduates. Come join us!

ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Fletcher Miller School is a unique academic environment for students with significant support needs (SSN). Fletcher Miller is a public school on Jeffco's continuum of alternative education placements for special education. All students at Fletcher Miller work toward Extended Evidence Outcomes aligned with the general education curriculum and state standards. We serve SSN students ages 3-21 in preschool, Kindergarten-12th grade, transition services, and the Lighthouse Program. In addition to addressing literacy, communication, math, science and social studies, students experience adaptive physical education, music, art, library and work in the greenhouse. Because of our students' unique and complex significant support needs, intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy is provided during the school day to support access to education. School placement at Fletcher Miller is based on identified student need through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. Students participate in a variety of specially designed, district supported activities including adaptive physical education, boy and girl scouts, art shows, bike day, and PBIS. Our campus staff work in multi-disciplinary teams which include special education teachers, para educators, nurses, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, mental health provider and other itinerant special education staff to address the "whole child". To achieve this, we also partner with many community organizations including neighborhood schools, universities and colleges, and community based organizations.

Highly efficacious educators understand that their knowledge and skills can assist students in overcoming educational barriers. A robust continuum of services driven by student needs is essential.
