POSITION SUMMARY
: This position provides installations, maintenance, and repairs of district technology and peripheral equipment. Technology Hardware and Systems Technicians also support selected aspects of staff training programs and software installations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive.   1. Install, repair and maintain technology, mobile devices and peripheral technology hardware such as printers, scanners, laptops, desktops, drives and audiovisual equipment.Maintain an inventory of new and technology and repair parts.Purchase repair parts, as needed, with approval of Manager, Client Support Services.Provide customers with a repair status during delays for technology or peripheral technology repairs.Maintain technical manuals and documentation, applicable to technology and peripheral equipment technology serviced.Provide limited equipment repairs and on-site technical support for LANs (local area networks) and WANs (wide area networks), when requested by the Network operations team.Assist in the evaluation of technology hardware being considered for purchase.Provide assistance to customers in setting up workstations, laptops, mobile devices and display technologies and diagnosing errors.Committed to maintaining self-professional development updated on ongoing developments/advancements in technology hardware and operating systems.Update the Information Technology Services Help Desk Work Request system, to include entries for all support responses and services provided.Analyze trends in assistance requests. Contribute to the development of well-targeted Information Technology Services staff training programs, and customer service protocolsMaintain other records, inventory and data, as needed, to support requests regarding the District's Information Technology Services.Maintain confidentiality, including keeping passwords and other system security features confidential.
OTHER RESPONSIBLITIES:
  1. Serve as a member of the Information Technology Services team.Participate in and successfully complete self-study training as well as formal classes, as assigned.Serve on Department, School and District committees when needed and undertake additional projects or tasks, as assigned by the Department's CTO, Directors or Managers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Associate's degree in computer technology or business technology. Bachelor's degree in a related discipline may be substituted.
Two years' experience working in a customer service technology environment. Intermediate level knowledge of the District's current operational system software, major productivity applications and Help Desk software may be substituted for the experience requirement.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Industry standard certification for printer repairs for District standard product line.
Hardware repair certification from a minimum of one tier 1 manufacturer, i.e. Gateway, Dell, etc.
A+ certification or commitment to gain A+ certification within 1 year of employment.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance
Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis
Valid Washington State driver's license
Access to a vehicle since frequent local travel will be required

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Computer hardware and operating systems (iOS, Windows)
Working with word processing, database, spreadsheet, email, browsers, and a variety of software applications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly stand and walk, bend neck and back, use hands for repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee may occasionally be required to squat, kneel, and use hands for fine manipulation. The employee will constantly be required to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer screen and keyboard, and occasionally be required to climb stairs/ladder, lift and reach overhead, and lift/carry. The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 5 pounds and must frequently lift /carry up to 10 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 35 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull a maximum weight of 100 pounds.

This position regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video display. The noise level and temperature in the work environment can vary widely. The position constantly deals with interruptions and frequently deals with angry and distraught employees and community members. Staff in this position will experience inflexible task and project deadlines. Staff may be required to work in confining spaces, areas with limited lighting, or with elements of nature such as dust and dirt.

WORK SCHEDULE
This position typically works Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 260 days per year on a rotational model across three overlapping shifts (day, morning/afternoon, and afternoon/evening), with 12 holidays per year.
