Job Description:

We are currently accepting applications for our Behavioral Specialist position at our Rubino Academy campus in Ewing, NJ.

Our Behavioral Staff are responsible for providing assistance to school leadership and academic staff regarding Camelot's instruction strategy, student growth and development and learning environment. This position focuses on the importance of behavioral management and implementing the student handbook and works closely with the academic staff.

Rubino Academy (a division of Camelot Education in Ewing, NJ) is a Program of the Mercer County Technical Schools and has been serving the students of Mercer County as an Alternative High School since 1996. The Thomas J. Rubino Academy exists to serve the unique academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs of students who were unable to achieve success in the traditional school environment. The staff of Thomas J Rubino Academy is committed to creating and maintaining a structured, trusting, and caring environment where teaching and learning are exciting and students are assisted as they develop responsibility. All aspects of the school's organization, curriculum, model and activities are designed to accommodate individual learning styles so that all may experience success.

Camelot Education is a nationally recognized organization providing educational services to children and adolescents throughout the United States. Camelot has over 40 school campuses located in five states and is continuing to grow. Camelot provides Alternative Education services to inner city schools for children who have dropped out of school, been expelled or at risk for either.



Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responds to situations and incidents and supports academic staff with student behavioral issues
Identifies and implements ways to avoid repeat issues in the future
Contacts parent as needed to report student progress or issues
Monitors student attendance
Fully supports the academic goals of the students and understands and supports current curriculum and instructional approaches for students including students with special needs
Correctly completes all required documentation, such as incident reports, witness statements, workers compensation reports, student grievances, logs, notes, etc. within required deadlines

Experience and Skills:

Required Skills and Experience
  • Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Education, Criminal Justice, Social Services or related fields
  • One year previous experience working with at-risk youth preferably in a school setting
  • Proven ability and working knowledge with Microsoft software applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
