Position Description

JOB TITLE : Resource Teacher, Lead MSAP (12-month), Golden Ring Middle School

REPORTS TO : Principal

DEFINITION : Provides assistance and support with the implementation of the Magnet initiative and in the development and implementation of related instructional programs. Provides instructional support to teachers and staff, assists with professional development activities, and monitor magnet student engagement. Performs other duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :

Assist in the implementation of the Baltimore County Teaching and Learning framework by supporting quality first instruction through the use of innovative instructional practices in a magnet program.
Model lessons demonstrating research-based instructional practices in a magnet including IB strategies.
Provide school-based professional development and support to classroom teachers.
Assist with the revision, development, and alignment of the BCPS curriculum with the magnet school instructional focus.
Provide support to school staff in the planning and implementation of the magnet program as specified in the MSAP grant application.
Establish an advisory committee that involves key stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community and feeder schools representatives.
Coordinate and facilitate ongoing communications with the school's Magnet Advisory Council.
Work with a planning committee to develop and conduct outreach and recruitment activities, develop promotional materials, plan events, build business/community partnerships to support the program, and facilitate family and community engagement.
Monitor applicant and enrollment data, student engagement and academic performance, and other grant-related performance data.
Facilitate intervention support services as needed to assist students to improve academic performance.
Assume fiscal planning for the school's magnet program, assisting the Supervisor, MSAP in the procurement of equipment and materials, and maintaining school-based inventory of equipment and materials purchased with grant funds.
Distribute information about the magnet program with members of the school community through the development and distribution of magnet program literature, social and web-based media, in-person events, and other outreach materials.
Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education, Training and Experience :
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree; plus five years of successful teaching experience, which included two years as a content leader or department chair, and experience in the development of curriculum. Experience teaching in a magnet school program preferred. Master's degree preferred.

Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Professional Certificate is required. Maryland Advanced Professional certificate preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of magnet education. Knowledge of and skill in the use of database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications. Knowledge of and skill in data analysis.
Demonstration of strong and effective human relations and communication skills. Demonstration of strong leadership skills. Ability to manage and maintain the school magnet program budget. Demonstration of effective organization skills. Demonstration of strong computer/technology skills.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :
The work of this class is generally sedentary and performed in an office environment. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional limited physical activities.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (State of Maryland, Senate Bill 315, effective October 1, 1986) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $81.00. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
  • Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
  • All newly hired personnel must attend a Badges and Benefits session.
  • Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
