    Position Summary: Responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and supporting a comprehensive Gifted and Talented program within all 6-8 middle schools and 9-12 high schools in Pueblo City Schools

    Required Qualifications:
    • Valid Colorado Teaching License
    • Experience working with Gifted and Talented students
    • Proficient in the use of computer technology
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Successful gifted and talented education teaching experience as demonstrated by references, evaluations, and student growth data
    • Endorsement or Master's Degree in Gifted Education or willingness to seek endorsement
    • Knowledge of district Gifted and Talented processes including identification, assessment, and Advanced Learning Plans

    Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify gifted and talented students using a range of procedures
  • Coordinate and/or facilitate assessments directly related to gifted identification, including the universal screening of the Cognitive Abilities Test for all 6 th grade Pueblo City Schools students
  • Collaborate with staff, student, and parents in annually developing and monitoring a gifted student's Advanced Learning Plan
  • Encourage/foster differentiation of the curriculum to meet the individual needs of students within the regular classroom
  • Make provisions for enrichment opportunities for gifted and talented students both within the formal curriculum and in co-curricular and external enrichment programs.
  • Consider whether a student would benefit from accelerated progression either in a single subject or whole year
  • Develop strategies to identify and minimize "underachievement" in gifted and talented students
  • Provide social and emotional support for the gifted and talented students with individual strategies
  • Attend all district professional development regarding Gifted/Talented coordinator duties
  • Responsible for managing and allocating school gifted funds appropriately per ECEA rule
  • NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
    • Perform any and all other duties as assigned by Building Administrators

    WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee will work primarily in a school/office environment with both natural and fluorescent lighting; fast-paced work; constant interruptions;
