Essential Functions and Objectives:

Teach diverse high school students career & technical courses as outlined in the school's program approval.

The Career Tech Instructor facilitates student learning in specific content areas aligned with the Colorado Career Cluster Model. Instruction is project-based. The CTE Instructor will also assist in facilitating internships, job shadows, mentorships and/or college visits. The instructor must also maintain a CTE Advisory Committee and serve as advisor to the related career & technical student organization.

This instructor will teach courses such as technological applications, business management, computer business applications (Microsoft Office), web design, and accounting. Instructor may also teach courses from the High School of Business (HSoB) curriculum that may include Wealth Management, Leadership, Principles of Business, Principles of Finance, Principles of Marketing, Principles of Management, Business Economics, and Business Strategies

Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.

Counsel students to encourage and support student achievement and career planning.

Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students; and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.Observe, evaluate, report and record students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.

Prepare educational course outlines, objectives and materials according to curriculum guidelines and/or state and local requirements.

Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).

Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.

Prepare, administer, assign and grade tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.

Prepare student, attendance and activity reports as required by administrators

Communicate with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems and coordinate instructional efforts

Maintain program compliance with program approval, to include advising for the appropriate career & technical student organization and maintaining a program advisory committee

Maintain and supervise use of any lab/technology equipment and document operational status

Perform other duties as assigned.

Provides instruction to linguistically diverse students in English only.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

Broad knowledge of techniques and practices used in related industry

Ability to manage classroom and plan and execute lessons to meet the needs of a variety of learners

Experience working with diverse populations

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Master's Degree in content area preferred

Ability to work effectively as member of multi-disciplinary team.

Ability to communicate clearly in both written and oral formats.

Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills

E ducation Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Professional industry experience in content area within past 7 years

Must possess a CTE endorsement in Business or Business/Marketing

Must attend HSoB training during summer and/or during the school year if that curriculum is offered in the school.

Preferred: Concurrent Enrollment requirements - Masters degree or masters +18 hours in the appropriate content
