QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of five years successful experience in education, including teaching, supervision and/or administration, preferably at the high school level.
  • Graduate study beyond the Master's degree with emphasis on high school curriculum, supervision, and/or administration.
  • A valid New York State SAS, SBL or SDA certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    1. provide leadership and work effectively with staff members, colleagues, parents, and others in the educational community;
    2. use creative problem solving and decision making skills to provide a positive learning environment resulting in continuous improvement for students and staff; and,
    3. speak and write clearly and effectively.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:
Demonstrate a willingness to contribute as a member of the administrative team.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist in screening, interviewing and recommending candidates for professional and support staff positions.
  2. Supervise and evaluate professional and support staff assigned to the building.
  3. Carry out disciplinary procedures as established by the District and/or building in supervision of two of four grades of students at East.
  4. Serve as members of building CST Team.
  5. Grade-level administrative Liaison for Committee on Special Education Meetings (CSE)
  6. Supervise evening and weekend activities on a shared basis with the other building administrators.
  7. Coordinate and monitor the procedures and personnel necessary to assure accurate student attendance records and compliance with State Education Department regulations for student attendance.
  8. Approve all extracurricular activities and assure proper advisement.
  9. Develop and update student activity handbook.
  10. Provide for the proper chaperone supervision and student security at school dances and other evening functions.
  11. Compile necessary examination and graduation data and supply such data accurately as requested on State Education Department forms.
  12. Act as supervisor for guidance services, in particular assuring the proper tracking of students and provision of timely and appropriate student assistance.
  13. Coordinates and monitors all maintenance functions in the building helping to assure proper function and appearance of the building and building system on a daily basis.
  14. Schedule and administer all State Assessments and other large group examinations to insure supervision and compliance with State Regulations.
  15. Develops, updates, maintains and monitors all fire and emergency drills and procedures, including isolation, safety responses, building safety plan/committee.
  16. Building examination coordinator responsible for administering all State Assessments and other large group examinations to ensure proper supervision and compliance with State Regulations along with proctoring assignments.
  17. Assumes responsibility for other tasks as assigned by the Principal.
  18. Effectively assume all responsibilities of the Principal in the Principal's absence.
