The Opportunity: Chavez Parkside is look for a Public Policy Manager to lead and develop the public policy program at the campus. This person will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to ensure the successful implementation of all instructional and logistical aspects of the public policy program and activities, including 9th and 10th grade Capstone, Junior Fellowship, Senior Thesis, and Symposium 
  
The Organization: Chavez Parkside is a public policy, college preparatory charter high school in Ward 7. An anchor in the Parkside/Kenilworth community, our school has 500 students in grades 8-12. Chavez Parkside students achieved over 5 million dollars in scholarship and a 100% college acceptance rate. Parkside has a first-rate athletics program with champion basketball, volleyball, track and cheerleading teams. And we have over 50 community partners hosting students in the fellowship program. Chavez Parkside serves a high needs population of students and is committed to giving them the resources and support they need to be successful in college and in life. 
  
A successful candidate for this position is highly organized, self-driven, knowledgeable of public policy research, analysis and writing. The public policy manager coaches teachers and mentors students in all aspects of the public policy program and in meeting the requirements for graduation. 
  
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  
● Oversee the ongoing review and revision of the public policy curriculum and collaborate with teachers to ensure successful implementation of courses. 
● Identify and cultivate external partnerships for policy courses, programs, events, and opportunities. 
● Plan and execute events within the public policy curriculum, such as the City Council Day, We the People competition, and Annual Public Policy Symposium. 
● Lead the coordination of updated CAP and CAPstone experience. 
● Manage all logistics of Chavez's Fellowship program, including securing partners, setting up student interviews, matching students, orientation, and evaluation of program. 
● Work with school leadership to identify and organize events related to the public policy curriculum that reflect current issues for students such as environmental field trips and policy summits. 
● Lead the development of new programs for students to engage with public policy and support college and career readiness such as career day and shadowing opportunities. 
● Meet regularly with school leadership and teacher-leaders to ensure the seamless integration of public policy programming and courses 
● Design and implement a comprehensive approach to assess the effectiveness of public policy experiences through surveys, pre- and post- tests, teacher feedback, focus groups, etc. 
● Manage the public policy budget 
● Teach courses to engage students in public policy and activism as needed 
● Perform additional duties assigned
