The School District of Clayton seeks an exceptional secondary educator with a demonstrated passion for working with educators to meet the unique needs of students in a diverse population. The coach would have a background in a variety of pedagogical practices including (but not limited to): culturally responsive teaching, helping students achieve equitable access to programing and school success, differentiation, project based learning (PBL) and reflective practice. The coach will be a collaborative partner with teachers at Clayton High School and Wydown Middle School and assist in establishing best practices related to teaching and learning.

The Secondary Teaching and Learning Coach works closely with various stakeholders and is responsible for prioritizing and operationalizing initiatives, especially those dealing with curriculum and professional development (in collaboration with the Office for Teaching and Learning). The Secondary Teaching and Learning Coach is also responsible for working with Clayton High School teachers involved in the District Lab Classroom program.

The Successful Candidate:

Lead Teacher/Mentor

Demonstrates model lessons.

Mentors teachers and provides support to create more culturally responsive classrooms and instruction.

Serves as a coach and provides support to all teachers as needed.

Acquires resources and materials to support pedagogical practices.

Coaches teachers in equitable methods of classroom assessment that inform instructional planning based on identified student needs.

Uses understanding of research-based strategies, behavior management strategies, and developmentally appropriate instruction to support teachers in meeting students' needs and curriculum implementation.

Acts as a resource on diversity issues for faculty and staff in their work with students and in their development of curriculum and programs.

Problem Solving/Data Manager

Coordinates student data collection and management; assists with data analysis at middle school and high school.

Serves as secondary education coach.

Serves as a member of the CHS and WMS building leadership teams.

Collects student achievement data and progress monitors interventions.

Professional Development

Organizes and provides job embedded professional development.

Serves on District Professional Development Committee (PDC).

Participates in development and implementation of New Teacher Orientation program and first and second year Ongoing Support seminars.

Attends school community meetings, programs and events; attends principal and other administrator meetings as necessary.

Supports the professional development days within the school district.

Meets regularly with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning to plan, collaborate, and maintain consistency within the buildings in regards to teaching and learning approaches.

Works with District Professional Development Committee to facilitate the development and implementation of comprehensive equity programs in professional development. Collaborates with the District Professional Development Committee in the planning and coordination of professional development to serve the adult learning needs at the District, building, and individual level.

Skills

Demonstrate expertise in best practices in teaching and learning.

Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices, differentiation practices, and other researched pedagogy practices.

Display a broad-based knowledge of diverse populations.

Serve as a resource for student organizations that meet the growing needs of students from diverse backgrounds.

Provide additional support for multicultural student organizations. Create opportunities for leadership development within our underrepresented communities.

Ability to facilitate, mediate and train in specific topics.

Strong leadership and management abilities, as well as conflict management.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Embrace an institutional culture of care, social justice, equity, and access.

Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred.

Certification: Missouri teacher certification, with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.

Experience: Minimum of five years secondary teaching experience required. Experience in coaching and mentoring preferred. Extensive anti-bias, diversity or inclusion training, professional training and implementation of culturally responsive teaching practices also preferred.
