Reporting to the Human Resources (HR) Program Manager, the Talent Coordinator will be responsible for providing creative, logistical and analytical support for CPS' talent management and leadership development programs (LDPs). The Coordinator will work closely with the Manager to develop, design and deliver innovative and sustainable talent management and leadership development initiatives for school-based and central office staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and participate in the ideation, creation, execution and evaluation of talent & performance management programs and LDPs for CPS staff

  • Design, facilitate and provide logistical support to run high-level recruitment, interview and selection protocols, programming and alumni relations for LDPs

  • Organize and execute talent management and LDP events and trainings, material production and distribution, and other resources to ensure that operations are managed at a high level and within authorized budgets

  • Work collaboratively to support instructors and external vendors for both in-house and outsourced training

  • Assess various training and development options and make recommendations on which to use based on thorough research and analysis

  • Identify, measure, build and report data metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of talent management solutions and LDPs, including surveys and tracking of participants and alums across the district, among other quantifiable measures

  • Support the creation, tracking and oversight of talent and LDP training and budget to help maximize allocated resources

  • Assist with the alignment of performance management programs with LDP opportunities

  • Ensure talent management & LDPs are aligned with CPS' vision, relevant department/office goals, and aligned evaluation frameworks and rubrics

  • Collaborate with talent office leadership to support talent management initiatives

  • Identify, recommend, and implement operational improvements to streamline internal HR processes and increase efficiency

  • Perform additional duties as assigned



Type of Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Organizational Psychology or a related field

  • HR Certification: PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred



Type of Experience Required :

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources in a fast-paced environment



Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest and experience in human resources, leadership development and/or programming

  • Strong organizational, problem solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Independent results-driven self-starter that demonstrates initiative and produces high-quality work

  • Analytical mind with genuine interest and mindset rooted in continuous improvement

  • Experience planning and executing high level events for senior leadership

  • Experience in program and/or project management role or proven ability to own tasks from ideation to execution and evaluation

  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusivity and proven ability to work with diverse populations

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships

  • Flexible and adaptable to change



Residency Requirement :

  • As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
