The Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has set ambitious goals to ensure that every childin every school and every neighborhoodhas access to a world-class learning experience from birth, resulting in graduation from high school college- and career-ready.
Under the direction of the Office of Language and Cultural Education EL Program Director, the EL Post-Secondary Manager will be responsible for leading the strategy and activities to improve the EL High School graduation rate and the EL College Enrollment rate annually. The EL Post-Secondary Manager will provide direct service to high schools to improve EL Post-Secondary outcomes, and actively manage partnerships with local colleges and universities to enable a successful transition for students.

Residency Requirement: As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
Under the direction of the Office of Language and Cultural Education EL Program Director, the EL Post-Secondary Manager will be responsible for leading the strategy and activities to improve the EL High School graduation rate and the EL College Enrollment rate annually. The EL Post-Secondary Manager will provide direct service to high schools to improve EL Post-Secondary outcomes, and actively manage partnerships with local colleges and universities to enable a successful transition for students.
The EL Post-Secondary Manager will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
- Serve as a post-secondary expert for EL students, by developing guidance and providing direct service to high school post-secondary teams.
- Develop and foster partnerships with the City Colleges of Chicago and other local universities to ensure EL students are actively recruited, enrolled, and persist in college.
- Coordinate, lead, and participate in meetings (central, network, and schools) to develop strategy and implementation plans that will improve EL Post-Secondary outcomes.
- Provide training and professional learning to central, network, school and community stakeholders regarding EL Post-Secondary strategy, activities, and outcomes.
- Develop and foster partnership with the Office of College and Career Success in order to collaborate and participate in district wide post-secondary initiatives.
- Manage and lead the Seal of Biliteracy Program including; planning, training, and monitoring, outcomes.
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the EL Post-Secondary Manager must possess the following qualifications:
Type of Education Required :
- Master's Degree in Education preferred
Type of Experience and Number of Years :
- Minimum of two years' experience in Post-Secondary Planning for K-12 student population
- Minimum one year administrative experience in educational related programs preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders; establish efficient working relationship with colleagues, district and school staff and community-based organizations
- Ability to manage, problem solve, and delegate as situations dictate
- Ability to recognize failures and learn from mistakes to improve conditions for working and learning as team
- Ability to travel to schools and other locations throughout the district
- Ability to be a self-learner and demonstrate excellent organization skills
- Demonstrate proficiency in range of technology tools and software: Google docs, Microsoft Office and Mac applications
- Bilingual, multilingual a plus
- Demonstrate exceptional written, verbal and oral skills
