Our Essex Middle School is seeking a dynamic temporary science teacher to teach our awesome 7th grade students. Position is available for the 2019-20 school year.
Experience in project based learning that regularly integrates technology and incorporates literacy throughout the content area is essential. Genuine interest, appreciation, and love of middle school students as well as a thorough understanding of middle level best practices are required. Below are some additional qualifications being sought:
- Valid VT Educator license with middle level science endorsements (4-19C) preferred; secondary science (2-13) endorsement also considered. Additional endorsement in Mathematics also desirable.
- Dedication to providing a safe, welcoming, and respectful learning environment for students.
- Commitment to the success of ALL students, and ability to understand and teach to the various learning styles of students.
- The ability and enthusiasm to effectively engage and inspire students to excel in science.
- Familiarity and understanding of the Common Core Standards as they relate to science.
- Ability to implement a focus of literacy across the content areas, and expertise in utilizing technology to support instruction within a middle school setting.
- Knowledge and/experience in developing standards based units, assessments, and reports, differentiated instruction to support learning for all students, and formative assessment to provide student feedback and to adjust lesson delivery.
- Excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication, creative and collaborative skills. Ability to be a contributing member of an established interdisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of knowledge and professional practice and a willingness to take risks as a continuous active learner as part of our vibrant EMS school community.
