Our Thomas Fleming Elementary School (grades 4-5) is seeking a temporary one-year 4th grade teacher to replace a teacher on a leave of absence. This position will serve as teaching partners on one of our "House" vertical teaching teams.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- Valid VT Educator license with an Elementary Education endorsement (1-00).
- Strong background in core curriculum of literacy, math and science
- Plans and implements quality first instruction that all students can access
- Experience with diagnostic assessment, progress monitoring and tiered group interventions
- Ability to implement a focus of literacy across the content areas, and expertise in utilizing technology in a transformative manner to support instruction (Humanities approach)
- Knowledge and/or experience using "backwards design" for lesson development, differentiated instruction to support learning for all students, and formative assessment to provide student feedback and to adjust lesson delivery
- Experience in co-teaching with special educators is also desirable
- Interest and experience working in a vertical team structure and in looping as a teacher of fourth and fifth grade students is highly desirable
- Deep knowledge and understanding of the Vermont Standards which reflect Common Core Standards (CCSS)
- Dedication to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for all students
- Excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication,creative and collaborative skills
- Commitment to equity for all and to the success of ALL students, and ability to understand and teach to the various learning styles of students with a whole child focus
- The ability and enthusiasm to effectively engage students and help them to own their learning and have opportunities to explore their learning interests
- Commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of knowledge and professional practice and a willingness to take risks as a continuous active learner
- Contributes to positive classroom and school climate through learning about and putting into practice an array of programming and connective actions related to Responsive Classroom, Mindfulness, Social Cognition, and Trauma Supportive school environments; strong background in social emotional learning preferred.
