Title: Specialist I, Energy Management Maintenance

Position Summary:

The Speciialist I for Energy Management serves as the Central Station Operator to manage and support the energy management system in maintaining electronic controls for satisfactory comfort levels to building occupants while ensuring efficient system operation; Available for "on call" and emergency operations on a 24 hour basis

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitors all buildings tied into the Energy Management Control System (EMCS); Performs the necessary corrections and adjustments to match building requirements on a daily basisSupports maintenance staff through the operation of the EMCS to assist in diagnosing and repairing field related malfunctionsNotes deviations from normal operating conditions and initiates maintenance work to perform corrective actions; Takes action when possible with the EMCS to temporarily correct or mitigate the field related problemAnalyzes buildings and operations to determine the optimum utilization of HVAC, electrical, lighting and control systems; Applies analytical and creative ability to effectively resolve the complex mechanical problems encountered in the various buildingsDevelops and programs building operating schedules for energy management with EMCSAssists in implementing system modifications/additions with in-house staff or contractor representatives, including graphics and equipment program logic modificationsServes in an on-call capacity to review building operations through the EMCS or to provide schedule programming to support emerging requirementsWorks with schools to optimize HVAC requests during unoccupied periodsMonitors cooler/freezer operation and works with school nutrition to address issuesPerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Education and Experience:
Education:
  • High School diploma or GED required; Some college preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in HVAC and controls required

Certification:
  • None RequiredMust be willing to acquire additional training as directed by manager

Minimum Qualification:
  • Must be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of environmental systemsOperation and knowledge of Energy Management Control Systems; Mechanical aptitude, coupled with system-level analytical and creative problem solving skillsMust be able to identify field related problems and determine proper modifications; energy management program design experienceHuman relations skills in dealing effectively with individuals on a daily basis.Competence in Automated Logic WebCTRL software is preferred, however, a transferable competency in other energy management system control software will be considered.Competency in a networked MS Windows environment, i.e., working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook, and the ability to utilize work management software for work order and schedule management is requiredAbility to work effectively with departmental and school-based personnelGood decision-making and problem solving skillsProficiency with HVAC and building automation systemsExcellent organizational and customer service skillsExcellent communication skills both written and verbal

Salary Information:
Salary Range for 2019-2020
  • $41,363 - $48,817

Step placement credit may be granted for up to a maximum of 8 years (Step 9) of prior verifiable experience. Salary placement with Fulton County Schools is non-negotiable. Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience calculations from the Non-Teaching Salary Schedule A-235, Professional Scale, Step 1 - Step 9.
