  • POSITION INFORMATION:
    Supervisor: Building Principal Employment Period: 12 Months Employment Status: Full-time Start Date: July 2019 Salary: Commensurate with experience Closing date: Open until filled

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Responsible for providing the required classroom training for students that will enable them to complete career objectives and prepare them for experiences in the various branches of the military service.
    • Plans appropriate instructional/learning strategies, develops lesson plans and activities, including determination of appropriate kind and level of materials.
    • Implements a multi-subject, three or four year instructional program that provides appropriate military experiences.
    • Manages the behavior of learners to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process.
    • Continually assesses student progress and maintains appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation (quizzes, tests, etc.) for institutional and individual reporting purposes.
    • Utilizes a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and to enhance learning.
    • Responsible for directing the overall Junior ROTC Program in the school.
    • Processes ROTC scholarship applications on qualified cadets.
    • Organizes programs of instruction to provide opportunities for students to prepare for and achieve career objectives in selected military branches.
    • Plans work in accordance with curriculum/programs of the applicable military service.
    • Requisitions government furnished equipment (uniforms, training aids, books, drill rifles, air rifles, and organizational equipment); arranges for cleaning and tailoring of uniforms, surveying old and worn uniforms and other government property.
    • Strives to develop the following in each student:
    • Good citizenship, patriotism, leadership, discipline, self-reliance, and responsiveness to constituted authority.
    • Knowledge of basic military skills and appreciation of the role of military services in defense.
    • Strength of character, informed citizenship, and an understanding of responsibilities in a democratic society.
    • Performs simple preventive maintenance of training aids and devices; inventories all government furnished equipment/materials (including annual wall-to-wall inventory), ensuring proper physical security of all government furnished equipment/materials.
    • Collaborates within a professional learning community in order to nurture and sustain a school culture and instructional program conducive to accelerated student achievement.
    • Remains current and abreast of new developments and organizations within applicable branch of service, attending sponsored training to keep abreast of current requirements of program management, and taking courses of instruction to improve teaching abilities.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    • Graduation from an accredited military academy or college with a degree in military science; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the above noted knowledge, skill, and ability. Nominated by their respective service.
    • Good organizational, human relations, and communication skills.
    • Good knowledge of content, methods, materials, and equipment for teaching ROTC curriculum.
    • Good knowledge of adolescent growth and development.
    • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
    • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
    • Skill in oral and written communication.
    • Excellent human relations skills.
