Role Mission: The payroll administrator will execute the payroll processing for a segment of IDEA staff members. The payroll administrator will report to and supports the director of payroll in all payroll related functions. The payroll administrator will need to be keen on execution of processes to meet critical deadlines. This role will need to work diligently with other departments within the organization to ensure an accurate and timely payroll. The staff in this role must be analytical, detail-oriented, and must have great communication skills.


1.Process Payrolls with 98% accuracy
  • Work with HRIS team to ensure all new hires and changes are documented in payroll binders
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of excel to audit current payroll against previous payroll
  • Perform monthly audits of Tyler Munis to check for errors or discrepancies.
  • Maintain all extra duty and OT pay codes
  • Ensure all account codes changes are maintained in Tyler Munis per the accounting and budget team
  • Submit accounting adjustments to accounting team when necessary
  • Meet Payroll Teams Service Level Agreements
    • Process all payrolls to meet appropriate deadlines.
    • Complete all personnel exits within 48 hours.
    • Deliver exemplary customer service and respond to all email inquiries and voicemails within 48 hours.

  • Support specific continuous improvement initiatives tied to payroll type
    • Become go-to expert on payroll group and process, partnering with payroll clerk in continuous improvement in customer service
    • Create reports related to payroll area and to support team
    • Conduct audits and analysis to identify potential solutions for improvement areas (e.g., overpayments, timesheet errors)

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Mange Payroll Clerk

    • Education: Bachelor's Degree
    • Experience: 2-5 years of payroll experience
    • License or Certification: FPC/CPP Preferred.

    Knowledge and Skills:
    • Efficient with payroll competencies.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of Payroll tax in a multiple jurisdiction setting.
    • Advanced to expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
    • Ability to work with others in a team environment with a "No Excuses" attitude.
    • Ability to read, analyze and apply mathematical concepts such as computing rate, ratio, and percentages.
    • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
    • Ability to perform under immense pressure
    • Ability to learn software programs and system processes with ease
    • Have strong work ethic with personal drive for success exemplifying "whatever it takes" attitude.

    Salaries for this role typically fall between $42,800 and $51,400, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
