BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE
To provide instruction in the Social Science Curriculum in the HD Karns Academy Program. To help 8 th grade students develop the skills needed to complete the classes assigned to be successful in high school, graduate, and to enter post-secondary education and/or the workforce. The teacher will provide support, both academic and interpersonal, to students. The teacher will be a mentor and a resource manager.

The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be on time to work; regular attendance is an essential function of your job.
- Submit required reports in a timely manner, participate in staff, department, committee, and team meetings.
- Obtain instructional resources and materials through processes outlined by the Principal and/or the department of Teaching & Learning.
- Keep informed regarding new technologies and research-based teaching practices that facilitate and support student learning.
- Support the vision and mission of the HD Karns Innovations Academy Program; and work to develop and sustain the climate and culture of the program.
- Participate as a team member with the both licensed and non-licensed staff in a comprehensive evaluation, review, and re-evaluation process.
- Communicate clearly and accurately with administrators, staff, parents, students and support agencies.
- Be an active member of the professional learning community: student, committee meetings, as well as assist in early recognition and prevention of educational problems.
- Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state, and federal laws.
- Attend/assist with school events; supervise students in all activities related to classroom and student publications
- Strive to communicate the positive aspects of our school program to the public in word and deed.
- Uphold and enforce Board policies, administrative procedures, school rules, and federal and state regulations including but not limited to:Consolidated Plan for Federal Programs

Child abuse reporting - Perform other duties assigned by the principal or other building or district administrators.
Term of Employment: Teacher Contract
Salary Range: Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule.
Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with state regulations and the terms established in the negotiated agreement.
