Impact Prep is an innovative public middle school in the Springfield, Massachusetts community. Our vision at Impact Prep is the creation of a learning environment where students are academically equipped and socially inspired. Graduating eighth grade students from Impact Prep will leave performing at or above grade level on the MCAS and - equally important - will have developed a character compass to guide their future decisions.

About the Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership

In 2015, the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Springfield Public Schools partnered to form the Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership (SEZP). SEZP is committed to ensuring that the middle and high schools in "The Zone" are engaging environments where teachers receive the support they need to grow professionally, and students have the opportunity to acquire the academic and personal skills to succeed in the college or career of their choice.

Each SEZP school has the autonomy to craft and implement its own, unique vision for success and receives support from an ecosystem of national-caliber partners. Furthermore, Teacher Leadership Teams at each school ensure that teacher voice is heard and that there is strong communication between school administration and staff.

Parent Engagement Manager Responsibilities:

The Parent Engagement Manager is part of the team responsible for ensuring that students' parents and families are involved members of the school community. Beyond informing families about what is happening at Impact Prep, the Parent Engagement Manager helps ensure parents and families are participants in their students experience at Impact Prep and help the school reach its mission. Specifically, the Parent Engagement Manager supports the following areas:

Family Outreach

Conduct home visits

Schedule and host pro-active meetings with families, including appropriate teachers and other staff

Managing distribution and collection of the annual Family Survey to ensure 90% completion rate

Conduct focus groups of parents to get regular feedback and enact changes or report feedback to the administrative team

Events

Create and host at least 6 events for parents during the school year and summer

Create and run a 6-8 grade "Parent Academy"

Create and oversee a Parent Advisory Council

Explore the potential of hosting bi-lingual academies for parents

Logistics

Manage communication applications, including text messages and dialers

Upload family communication into Powerschool

Support student attendance by managing communication (letters and home visits) and follow up documentation if necessary

Create and manage attendance incentives

School Duties

Lead 2 elective courses

Cover up to 2 class periods per day

Be present in hallways during passing time and other duties (e.g. lunch duty) as assigned

Required
Qualifications:

1-3 years relevant experience

Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

Desired
Qualifications:

Excellent organizational abilities

A track record of success working with students and adults

High expectations for self and others, and a willingness to hold self and others accountable to these expectations

Ability to organize workload independently and set priorities; to adapt quickly to changing priorities; and perform multiple interrelated tasks under deadline pressures

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong interpersonal skills

Effectiveness at building strong relationships with students and families

Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities

Commitment to professional growth

Belief and alignment with SEZP's core beliefs and philosophy, including the belief that each and every child can excel academically

Understanding and experience working with the nuances of urban school environments and school culture

Previous teacher experience

Bilingual speaking, reading, and writing abilities (Spanish)

Benefits

SEZP offers a competitive salary, starting at $50,000, and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Staff in SEZP qualify for benefits (personal/sick days, health insurance, etc.) offered to other employees in the Springfield Public Schools.
