  • Employment Opportunities in Temporary Positions
    Some vacant positions may be temporary. Temporary positions may be extended year to year, dependent upon funding and departmental needs. Making yourself available for temporary positions increases your employment possibilities and may lead to permanent opportunities. A person hired for a temporary position may also become a temporary employee upon satisfactory completion of the initial probation period of at least six months. Once a temporary employee, you would be eligible to apply for promotion and transfer opportunities to permanent as well as other temporary positions.   • Operates video cameras, and sets up lighting, program set pieces and other production equipment; disassembles and removes equipment and set pieces from program sites; and performs other duties as required. This position is responsible for creating educational television programming and multimedia resources in support of comprehensive K-12 instruction. Applicants must possess knowledge of audio/video editing theory and techniques and be able to use professional audio/video editing software to edit recordings; write scripts for documentaries and operate audio/video recording devices such as cameras and microphones to effectively frame shots and gather smooth footage.
  • Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified. Unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently.

    Note: Calculation of experience is based on full-time, 40-hour workweeks. Part-time experience is pro-rated. Example: Twelve months of experience at 20 hours/week is equivalent to six months of experience, not one year. Also, hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week will not be credited. Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours/week is equivalent to one year of experience, not one and a half years.

    To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
  • Experience Requirement:
    One (1) year of responsible studio and remote television production experience which required the thorough knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of television production, including involvement in such functions as camera operation, lighting, projection, audio, switching, set assembly, etc.

    At least six (6) months of the required experience must have been within the last five (5) years.

    Substitution Allowed:
    One (1) year of training in technical television production in an accredited college above the high school level may be substituted for the required experience. Such training must have provided the applicant with the knowledge and skills comparable to those gained from actual work experience in television production at a television station.

    Select Certification Requirements:
    1. Lift/carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
    2. One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience using professional audio/video editing software in the operation of broadcast quality audio/visual equipment.

    Driver's License Requirement:
    Applicants will be required to possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license to drive in the State of Hawaii.
