The Stevenson High School Foundation (Lincolnshire, IL) is seeking a Director for the Fall 2019 Children's Theater production.
Description:
In addition to supporting programs that directly impact student needs, the Stevenson Foundation hosts a wide range of performances and events at Stevenson's world-class performing arts facilities to enrich the lives of our extended community.
The Foundation produces fun and fanciful children's plays annually, performed and staged by Stevenson high school students. This long-standing program is much loved by young children and families in our community. Recent performances have included Rapunzel and Monster in the Closet.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Stevenson Foundation's Children's Theater Director will lead all stages of the process from selecting the play, auditioning SHS students, working with SHS faculty and staff on lighting, stage crafting, and costuming.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position has an established record of success in directing high school students, and possess the following traits: theater design, and stagecraft; positive and collaborative working style with students, colleagues, administration and parents; excellent communication skills; excellent organizational skills, with proficiency in technology related to instruction, recordkeeping and communication; embraces the Stevenson cultural norm which values continuous reflection and improvement of programs and teaching and learning.
Qualified applicants have experience directing high school students at theater or school productions. Preferred qualifications include a valid Illinois Professional Educator's License with Theater/Drama endorsement.
Candidates must be available to work after school, evenings and weekends during the production and performance season from September through early November. Auditions are slated for Sept 10 and 11, 2019, with rehearsals beginning on Sept 16, 2019.
