ELIZABETH MIDDLE SCHOOL LIBRARIAN
COMPENSATION
$13.80 - $18.70 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for implementing the library media program at Elizabeth Middle School.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Creates a pleasant, safe physical environment in the media center. Instructs daily library lessons to grades 6-8. Troubleshoots classroom tech issues. Assists students and teachers in allocation and use of resources.Oversees the daily circulation and use of materials and equipment.Shelves materials.Distributes overdue notifications in a timely manner. Manages inventory and ordering of supplies. Maintains resource inventories. Manages library budget. Selects materials for the collection, and identifies materials for replacement. Works with vendors for collection enhancement. Maintains the catalog to accurately reflect the collection. Recommends purchases of new resources and equipment. Supervises library aide, student aides, and volunteers. Advocates the principles of intellectual freedom and ethical behavior. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
High school graduate or equivalent, Bachelor's degree preferred
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
One to three years, working in a school setting
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Computer skills
Word processing
General office equipment
Effective communication
Some knowledge of library media systems and equipment preferred
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
Is flexible
Has the ability to work co-operatively with supervisors and co-workers
Maintains a generally positive attitude
Has read the employee handbook to familiarize themselves with pertinent policies
Observes all district policies and procedures
