The Employment Technology Center (ETC) is an after-school program for high school youth that is focused on academics, employment, and leadership with an emphasis on the arts and technology. At its helm, ETC places the necessity to create an environment that compels youth to be active learners and designers of their environment. With an emphasis on an interdisciplinary approach to arts and technology education, the Tech Program approaches learning with a vigorous focus on expanding technical skills, delving into critical thinking, and expressing creative ingenuity.

We are currently seeking an Advocacy Coordinator to provide full and complete oversight of the academic enrichment and support components of the program. The Advocacy Coordinator will ensure that program participants are receiving the needed academic support, college prep, and multi-cultural exposure to prepare them for college and careers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work one-on-one with students to understand the diversity of needs for academic resources
  • Oversee work with school partners and parents while collaborating with other site staff
  • Supervise Student Advocates and tutors to assess students' needs, and develop and implement plans to meet those needs
  • Maintain statistical data for all education-related activities, such as student participation and tutor hours dedicated to education activities
  • Review educational history of students to evaluate academic performance and learning characteristics
  • Coordinate, develop, monitor, and evaluate effectiveness of the IEP for students
  • Prepare reports and updates as required and continuously evaluate program impact
  • Review and use of data to make informed decisions around education component program improvements
  • Develop long-term and short-term plans/programs for the purpose of meeting instructional objectives
  • Attend and contribute to case management meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ
  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years in an educational setting with at least 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Experience working with youth
  • Strong organizational, planning, leadership, writing and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to lead and motivate a high-performing, mission-driven staff
  • Energetic, motivated self-starter and a team player
  • Ability to offer motivate and encourage self-esteem in youth
