Job Description / Essential Elements:
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Middle School
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To serve under the direction of the Principal; manage the discipline, welfare and attendance of student activities; responsible for evaluations of both certificated and classified; coordinate the Pupil Personnel Services and act as the person in charge upon the absence of the Principal.
a. assist the principal in administering school;
b. act as person in charge upon absence of principal;
c. communicate with parents concerning the welfare of their children;
d. provide for the general welfare of all students and handle individual
and group problems of student behavior;
e. act in a liaison capacity with such agencies as the police,
probation, welfare departments and other special service
agencies;
f. supervise fire drills and safety devices;
g. supervise student activities;
h. supervise student attendance;
i. assist principal in providing for professional improvement of the
staff:
j. assist principal in curriculum study and planning;
k. assign faculty supervision for school activities;
l. assist in updating the student and faculty handbook according to
new state laws;
m. assist in the supervision of staff;
n. perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Qualifies for an Administrative Credential or is in an Administrative
Program leading to an Administrative Credential.
Experience:
A minimum of three years of teaching experience.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
• Bilingual/Spanish
• Knowledge and use of computers and technology
• Knowledge of laws relating to minors
SUPERVISION
The Assistant Principal is responsible to the Principal.
