POSITION SUMMARY
The Coordinator (Reporting & Analysis) provides strategic and financial support to the operation of the Budget Services department by gathering, validating, analyzing and preparing data to support the production of annual reporting documents. This position provides insight and understanding into budget reporting activities and is responsible for the District's overall compliance for financial reporting requirements. The Coordinator will partner with various departments and external stakeholders to determine the data requests and to provide insight regarding the accessibility of various reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Prepares all reporting and analytics for the Budget Services Department
• Coordinates the production of major reporting documents for the budget department, including the annual Budget Book submitted to Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and Association of School Business Officials (ASBO), monthly Board budget reports, annual Budget Primer and other Budget Committee materials, Budget Finance Advisory Committee (BFAC) materials, required state reporting and department and school program sheets.
• Works with Finance Accountability Support Tools (F.A.S.T.) accountability metrics
• Acts as liaison with APS Communications Department
• Prepares regular and/or ad hoc monthly presentations of financial and budgetary information
• Coordinates the process of maintaining financial information in a manner that is accessible to internal (district staff) and external (public) stakeholders
• Maintains databases of financial information, performance measures and operational information and performs regular integrity checks with the owners of the information (i.e. Data Information Group, Accounting, etc.); maintains internal and external web sites
• Assists schools and/or departments in developing budgetary or financial reports, as needed
• Teaches school and/or department staff how to interpret budgetary or financial reports and how to develop their own independent analysis
• Maintains internal measures to determine whether schools and/or departments are within allotted resources (budgetary accountability report)
• Works with the Accounting Department to produce and maintain a published chart of accounts for use by schools and/or departments
• Provides regular updates to budget staff about where and how information is stored and gathered
• Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
• Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated

Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
� Bachelor?s degree in Finance, Public Administration, Accounting or related field required
� Master's degree in Finance, Public Administration, Accounting or related field is preferred

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
� Valid driver's license and availability of private transportation

WORK EXPERIENCE:
� 5 years of experience in governmental accounting, finance or budgeting
� Experience in school district finance or budget preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
� Sound knowledge of the principles and best practices of budget management, procedures and guidelines
� Strong analytical skills
� Ability to understand the correlation between budget and financial data
� Excellent research practices and techniques
� Understanding and familiarity with federal, state and local laws, regulations and guidelines governing the budget process
� Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including consistent application of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
� Ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate correspondence, reports and other written materials
� Dependable, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as required
� Able to be organized, set priorities and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility
� Excellent presentation skills for educating internal and external stakeholders on budget processes and principles
� Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
� Able to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of people

Salary Grade:133
Salary Range: FY'20 APS Salary Schedule (All Positions)
