JOB SUMMARY

Teacher for Coding class at IDEA Kyle college Prep. This position will be responsible for teaching an engaging, project-based computer programming course that is fun and safe. Our ideal teacher will support a curriculum that helps students learn programming basics, designed for end users. This role will develop student problem solving skills, preparing them for future computer programming courses. This role will establish core skills and understandings of computer programming.

This is a part time salaried position and will teach during the day between 11:00 am - 2:15 pm.

Compensation for this role will be calculated at 40% of the teacher step scale for which the selected candidate qualifies, starting at $20,020 annually.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR CERTIFICATION
1. Degree in coding strongly preferred
2. One year teaching (or student teaching) strongly preferred
3. Demonstrates expertise in knowledge and teaching of instrumental music.
4. Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and
abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate or acceptable.
6. Spanish proficiency is a plus.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Maintains appropriate confidentiality.
2. Promotes a harassment-free environment, effective working relationships, and teamwork.
3. Ability to utilize office equipment, computers, and software especially as systems are upgraded.
4. Ability to learn, at a reasonable level, new instruments in order to teach beginners.
5. Reacts well under pressure, balance multiple demands at one time, and work with frequent interruptions.
6. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and use independent judgement.
