Whittle School & Studios is an ambitious project to modernize education and build the world's best and most innovative environment for human learning and development. Over the next decade we will be constructing 30 Pre-K-12 schools in the world's most vibrant cities, with all of our campuses designed by the renowned architect Renzo Piano.  The project is led by education entrepreneur Chris Whittle.

Our first two schools will open in the fall of 2019, located in Shenzhen, China, and Washington D.C., United States. 
Whittle School & Studios is seeking an enthusiastic, self-starter for the position of Studios Summer Camp Programs Director, to begin work September 1, 2019.
This position, located in Washington, DC, provides summer programing development & management for the DC Campus, with a targeted program launch date of June 2020. Under the umbrella of "Studios," this role leads the summer component of the broader Studios enrichment program portfolio. While summer programming will be this role's primary focus, this role also serves as a member of the DC campus Studios leadership team, developing and delivering year-round, world class, globally oriented extracurricular experiential learning opportunities to children and adults, which will grow over time to a robust and diverse portfolio of programs.
The Studios Summer Camp Programs Director will report to the DC Campus Studios Head/GM.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following:
  • Lead the development and delivery of the DC Campus summer camp programs (day and residential camps) to Whittle students (locally and internationally) and the public at-large.
  • Support (as a member of the DC Studios leadership team) the development of the full portfolio of year-round Studios enrichment offerings (school-year & summer) for Whittle students, and the public at-large.
  • Responsible for writing and accountable to, a budget for the summer camp programs (and related P&Ls).
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train and manage all seasonal (summer) instructors/staff and year-round support roles.
  • Manage all marketing, advertising & social media campaigns targeting perspective summer participants & staff.
  • Supervise registration & billing of summer participants (income), and program partners/vendors (expense).
  • Coordinate licensure and accreditation (as needed) for all summer programs.
  • Own a process and culture of continuous evaluation, assessment and innovation, as the program evolves.
Desired Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Education, Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification in or professional experience with Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Start-ups, Budgets.
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role developing and operating summer camps &/or after-school programs (independent school Auxiliary Programs director experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated history of significant program growth or expansion (meeting and exceeding projection targets).
  • Experience working in for-profit organizations (international/global work preferred).
  • Strong aptitude for the MS Office 365 suite of software (ASAP Education Administration software preferred).
  • Language fluency in English (Mandarin &/or Spanish preferred).

Whittle School & Studios offers our staff very competitive total compensation packages that are either at or above market, depending on the position.
