Career and Technical Business & Information Technology Teacher (CTE) Pay Grade: Per Instructional Salary Schedule Period of Employment: 10 months

FLSA Status: Exempt

Supervised by and/or Reports to: Building Administrator, Assistant Principal, CTE Administrator, K-12 CTE supervisor

General Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, implement, monitor, and evaluate a quality competency-based Business and Technology CTE (Career and Technology Education) program leading to the development of student skills sufficient to qualify for entry-level employment and/or post-secondary education using effective instruction with all students.Essential Duties:(This list is intended solely as an illustration of the various types of work performed. Demonstrates mastery of Business & Information Technology content area.

Prepares daily instruction and activities using the division's curriculum to assigned classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisors.

Assesses students' learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs.

Develops summative tests of students' learning and uses results for further student instruction, grading, and placement.

Maintains order and encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior within the classroom setting in accordance with division guidelines regarding pupil behavior management.

Selects and utilizes materials and resources appropriate to the students' instructional levels.

Organizes learning activities to achieve specific concepts.

Attends and participates in district and school level in-service training programs, faculty and department meetings.

Establishes friendly and cooperative relationships between the home and the school and responds to parent inquires on a timely basis.

Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence.

Assumes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.

Provides care and supervision of students.

Develops community and industry partnerships for students.

Utilizes class space to create an environment conducive to learning.

Demonstrates effective knowledge and use of curriculum content (subject matter and skills) associated with the instructional assignment.

Uses relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.

Complies with all school laws, State Board of Education regulations, and all rules and regulations made by the School Board and Superintendent.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of subject matter/course content and resources relevant to assignment.

Knowledge of skills in implementing various formative and summative assessments.

Ability to interact positively and effectively with parents, student, staff, administrators, and the community.

Knowledge of entry-level positions for students; potential career opportunities; and post-secondary educational opportunities in the CTE-technical program area.

Requisite Education and Experience:

Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement in Career and Technical Information – Business and Information Technology.

Experience in computer technology preferred or desirable and/or willing to pursue appropriate technology training as required by position.

Physical Requirements:Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to: a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, or repetitive motions required.
