Director of Transformation

Position Description
The Transformation Director will work with leadership at the King and Condon to support the development and execution of a coordinated process to improve, transform, and sustain progress in each building. This Director will report to each school leader. The Director has ongoing, regular collaboration and communication with Instructional Superintendents, central office staff, school leaders, and Instructional Leadership Teams in support of both buildings.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General:
  • Reporting to each school leader, develop, monitor, and revise each school's strategies to improve, transform, and sustain progress, as needed.
    • Develop, refine, and direct implementation of turnaround protocols, templates, and tools.
    • Build each schools' capacity to create and execute systems and strategies and use data effectively to align their Quality School Improvement and turnaround plans where possible so that both can be implemented effectively and ensure students' rapid academic improvement.
    • Build each school's capacity to support the implementation of school turnaround plans in a coordinated and coherent way.
  • Ensure that the school's turnaround and transformation strategies are research based, data driven and in compliance with federal and state law, and - most importantly - that they are driving rapid academic achievement for students in these schools.
  • Provide technical assistance to Instructional Leadership Team and Admin teams around state level reports and participation in monitoring processes required in the school turnaround plans.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Under the guidance of each school leader and in collaboration with Instructional Leadership Teams in underperforming schools, Instructional Superintendents, and other offices across the District:
    • Lead and support the development of turnaround plans.
    • Lead and coordinate processes of writing and submitting crucial documents for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
    • Support the coordination of Monitoring Site Visits
    • As needed, develop and provide professional development to the instructional leadership teams and staff at each building.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to craft communication to/with stakeholders and develop related communications products regarding turnaround priorities, processes and expectations.
  • Document processes and outcomes of turnaround/transformation and intervention strategies at each building.
  • Focus and model interventions for Turnaround Practice 4 for all both buildings, leading and helping to create consistent practices and structures for culture and relationship building including restorative strategies, accountability and staff capacity.
  • All duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS-Required:
  • Master's degree in education, policy, public administration or related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the following areas:
    • Knowledge of Massachusetts accountability system and relevant state laws and regulations
    • Knowledge of national, state, and local models and strategies for turning around underperforming schools and districts, including case studies of improvement used in exemplar schools and districts.
    • Extensive project management experience, organizing multiple complex projects under tight deadlines and achieving goals successfully.
    • Excellent analytical skills as well as strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to retrieve and analyze data and research from multiple district, state, and national resources; ability to integrate data analysis into strategy development and support for implementation of strategies at school and district levels.
    • Ability to work effectively and efficiently individually and in a team oriented, fast paced environment both within the department and across departments.
    • Ability to manage budgets.
    • Ability to manage high functioning and collaborative teams.
    • Ability to produce compliance reports for state and federal agencies.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment
TERMS : Managerial Tier D, This position is subject to the City of Boston residency Ordinance

NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school. School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
