School Nurse's Aide

Qualifications: H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
Certified in CPR and First Aide
Attention to Detail
Good Written Communication Skills
CNA License Required

Reports To: School Nurse, Building Principal(s) and Director of Special Services
Supervises: None
Job Goal: To assist School Nurse in providing quality school nurse services to meet specific requirements in state statutes, state rules and regulations and District policy related to the overall health care of students in the school system. Assists School Nurse in the collecting and maintaining of student health data.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Assists in maintaining health records and obtaining necessary medical records as required by School Nurse.Renders emergency first aid and/or emergency care as necessary to students and staff members in compliance with established standards and completes accident and service reports and logs.Assist in emergency situations in performing all tasks necessary to ensure the safety and welfare of the students and staff.Dispenses medications as necessary during the school day in compliance with established procedures and practices.Update student health information.Review student immunizations and communicate with parents as necessary to acquire all required information.Assist with health screenings including vision, hearing, heights and weights under the supervision of the nurse.Conducts inventory of supplies.Maintain first aid and room suppliesRead various charts and graphs and interpret data into charts for documentation purposes.Interacts positively and appropriately with students and staff.Maintains confidentiality standards as defined by local, state, and federal rules and regulations.Performs other duties as assigned.
