Days: 187 day position (new teachers 190 day position) General Description: Direct Service with Special Education Students
- Providing group and individual counseling services based on IEP mental health service goals
- Developing individual, group or system level interventions which improve identified problems or concerns, including academic, social/emotional/behavioral/mental health needs as they relate to educational progress
- Mental health in services in the general education classroom
- Providing the written documentation of services i.e. progress reports and progress monitoring, service logs, IEP goals
- Communicating and consulting with outside service providers (ex: caseworkers, therapists) when appropriate
- Working collaboratively to address a variety of factors in a child's living situation that affect the child’s adjustment in school (home, school, and community)
- Conducting suicide risk assessments
- Assisting team members in threat assessments
- Assisting team members in developing and implementing safety plans
- Responding to crisis situations and providing related individual and classroom support
- Identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect to local authorities
- Completing social, emotional, behavioral and adaptive skills assessments
- Interpreting and writing evaluation reports based off the assessments conducted
- Collecting data and developing Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavioral Intervention Plans
- Completing school observations
- Conducting family, teacher and student biopsychosocial interviews
- Conducting a review of records
- Developing IEP goals
- Creating Educational Impact Statements
- Participating in collaborative meetings for the following: IEP pre-planning, special education team, center-based classroom team, manifestation determination review
- Participating on the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support team
- Consulting and collaborating with families, teachers, other building staff, building administration, outside agencies working with the family
- Attending monthly behavioral health team meetings
- Participating in professional development
- Participating in professional learning community meetings
- Attending building staff meetings
- Providing psychoeducation for staff, students and families
- Conducting home visits/wellness visits
- Providing professional development to school staff
- Providing academic/behavior consultation
- Assisting with MTSS, leadership council, building-wide supports
- Providing community resources
- Providing mental health services for students with a 504 plan
- Providing general education interventions - behavioral and social skill support training for students
- Providing consultation to teachers and staff for general education students
- Obtaining and coordinating community resources to meet students’ needs
