QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must hold current NYS Special Education Certification (K-12 preferred; B-6 required)
  • Experience with the implementation of the Common Core standards, Readers and Writers Workshop, NYS Math Modules, and a variety of instructional strategies

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide Reading and Math support to K-4 students who have been identified through the Committee on Special Education
  • Plan, prepare and delivery instructional activities
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administration
  • Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in
  • Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year
  • Maintain accurate student records
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, paraprofessionals, and administration
  • Utilize various curriculum resources
  • Utilize data-driven instruction to maximize student growth
  • Foster a warm and inviting classroom environment
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with a co-teacher
  • Willingness to learn and grow as a professional
ESSENTIAL CORE CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Behavior management

  • Organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of research-based instructional strategies
PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Experience working with students who speak English as a second language
  • Experience working with students with disabilities
