PURPOSE OF JOB: To provide mixed age groups of students (3-6, 6-9, 9-12) with enriched literacy and interdisciplinary learning experiences that will support the rigor of Missouri Learning Standards and the Montessori Method, allowing students to acquiring 21st century skills. The incumbent will collaborate with other support teachers (Art, i-Spark, Music, P.E) and Montessori teachers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
With Students:
Prepare enriched cross curricular lessons for students using the KCPS ELA, Science and Social Studies Curriculum
Prepare collaborative science hands-on experiences for children to explore, while incorporating reading and writing skills.
Teach academic reading and science vocabulary to students.
Collaborates, develops and presents lessons using digital and print materials.
Promote appropriate conduct of students within the learning environment.
Help students develop habits of independent research and inquiry using technology.
Prepare a space that is conducive to learning for students.
With Teachers:
Collaborate with teachers to prepare meaningful lessons aligned with grade level standards.
Inform teachers and support staff members of the works occurring in the Literacy Center.
Work collaborative with teachers during Professional Learning Communities.
District Level Responsibilities:
Attend district professional learning as related to ELA and/or Science.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
Missouri State Certification (Elementary Education, 1-6)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Montessori Training
