ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Lukas Elementary, proud home of the Skywalkers, is the heart of the Standley Lake community. We offer a comprehensive K-5 program and believe a balanced approach to early learning sets a strong foundation for our students. Lukas is a 1:1 device school and all students have access to a blend of digital and hands-on learning everyday. We have an innovative science program, Discovery Education Science Techbook which allows students to engage in real-world science learning everyday. Lukas is also home to R.O.C.K.E.T. Days, which are designed to further STEAM education, and provide regular opportunities to code, build robots, and persevere through complex tasks. We differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners and have a dedicated block of time: WIN (What I Need) daily to support students with advanced learning plans, individualized education plans, those who need a boost in math or reading and enrichment for those who are right on track. We have many opportunities for families and local businesses to get involved and through their dedicated help, we recently received some major facility upgrades, including a new playground, gym, and carpeting throughout the building. We are currently partnering with families and businesses to create a Makerspace, which will further allow students to engage in authentic learning tasks. Come join us on our journey!
