    Title: Early Childhood Teacher Assistant

    Qualifications: *48 College Credit Hours or the ability to pass a State Approved Assessment within 90 days of employment
    *Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential (in progress or complete) or Associate in Early Childhood (in progress or complete) preferred
    *High School Graduate

    Reports To: Supervising Teacher & Program Principal

    Supervises: Students

    BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE
    The purpose of the teaching assistant is to aid the lead teacher in providing a high-quality educational environment to the students in the Early Childhood setting and to provide assistance with planning and preparation of various learning experiences within the program.

    The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people. The employee is responsible for the work output of others. The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not all-inclusive)
    1. Outside supervision (a.m.) of students.
    2. Assist in whole class activities to include: collecting reading rates, informal assessment, monitoring student practice, reading to the class, grading papers, Math Their Way, or recess.
    3. Assist with individual, small group or whole group instruction under the direction of the teacher.
    4. Assist individual teachers in clerical activities: to include preparing materials, bulletin boards, laminating, copying or other special projects.
    5. Lunchroom/playground supervision.
    6. Computer resource person.
    7. Respect the confidentiality of all information regarding student and school matters.
    8. Participate in all regular activities of the school, including staff meetings and in-services.
    9. Follow classroom and building wide management plans.
    10. Perform other duties as determined by the building principal.
    11. Building team leaders and other personnel will provide in-service for the teacher assistance as appropriate.
    Term of Employment: 9 Months

    Salary Range: Pay will range from $12.29 to $13.29 per hour.

    Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of 1 time per year.
