**This position is an anticipated vacancy. It is expected to be vacant by 8/31/2019. However, the current incumbent has a right to rescind their retirement, leave, or resignation up until the day of the expected vacancy date. Your hire will not be confirmed until the position is vacated, and you may start the year as a Long-Term Substitute if the position does not become vacant by the start of the school year.**

BPSTechnology's mission is to provide the technology foundation, vision, leadership, and support for the Boston Public Schools community in the use of technology as a tool to achieve its academic and operational goals to increase student performance and close the achievement gap. The Instructional Coach will support teachers with using technology as a tool for teaching and learning.

They will play a prominent role in supporting the specific needs and priorities of the schools they work with in implementing the MA Digital Literacy and Computer Science Standards. They will collaborate closely with school leadership and the district to develop coherent technology integration plans and empower teachers to implement new tools and techniques. Additionally, the Instructional Coach will capture promising practices to share throughout the district, and connect their learnings to broader district learning goals and initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates and communicates with BPSTechnology, teachers, and school leadership to develop and execute strategic plans related to using technology for teaching and learning.
  • Understands and communicates alignment between district initiatives, MA Digital Literacy and Computer Science (DLCS) standards, and school goals.
  • Collaborates with and supports educators in the integration of effective uses of digital technology through a consistent pattern of strategic outreach and informal support, including instructional coaching, classroom observations, modeling and co-teaching.
  • Incorporates the use of data to improve instruction within professional development activities.
  • Promotes a strong learning culture among all participants and builds relationships that encourage risk-taking.
  • Fosters collaboration, creativity, and sharing of digital learning strategies and resources among educators and schools.
  • Models and promotes good digital citizenship practices by facilitating safe, welcoming, and legal use of digital information and technologies.
  • Nurtures student opportunities for leadership in technology by supporting the development of a school-based student tech team.
  • Documents innovative learning strategies for ongoing project assessment.
  • Other duties as outlined by the head of the digital learning team and Chief Information Officer.

Qualifications - Required:
  • Bachelor's degree, active and valid Massachusetts teaching license
  • Minimum of three years classroom experience
  • Experience with and successful implementation of digital resources to advance teaching and learning
  • Strong understanding of pedagogy and instructional design
  • Successful experience leading adult learning
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly around listening and empathy
  • Creative problem-solver; ability to adapt and learn quickly

Qualifications - Preferred:
  • Exemplary experience as both a teacher and a leader at the K-12 level
  • Knowledge and use of Google Apps, Apple, Microsoft applications, and other common learning and collaboration tools used in the Boston Public Schools
  • Experience with implementing MA Digital Literacy and Computer Science Standards (DLCS)
  • Excellent knowledge and use of peripherals and apps to enhance learning
  • Understanding and experience in 1 to 1 learning environments
  • Experience in coaching and professional learning methods
