ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Lawrence Elementary is a neighborhood school with a focus on supporting the whole child by providing a nurturing learning environment, rich with rigorous academic expectations.

Currently, our enrollment allows us to have two classrooms at each grade level from Kindergarten through 5th grade. We also receive Title I dollars due to having 75% of our students qualifying for Free and Reduced lunches. We use these funds to provide students and families with two full time mental health personnel, a full time reading interventionist and a full time Digital Teacher Librarian.

Our Shared Vision is: Together We Can, Together We Will. We are a Professional Learning Community and have created structures to maximize time for collaboration. Each Thursday, two grade level teams work together for 95 minutes to meet the needs of their students. Additionally, teachers are encouraged to collaborate with all interventionists, mental health, DTL, coach and administration.

We value innovative learning and instructional models that meet the needs of all of our students. We utilize the workshop model, flexible seating, fluid groupings/strategy groups. We have systemically implemented the Lucy Calkins Reading Units of Study, Thinking Maps, Write From The Beginning and Beyond and Math Expressions.
