Essential Functions and Objectives:

This position will perform mid to advanced level accounting functions specific to the District\u2019s financial operations with an emphasis on general ledger accounting. This role includes budget to actual analysis on various projects within the District; has a good understanding of accounting. In addition, this role may deal with transactions pertaining to day-to-day activities for the District. A Senior Accountant will perform analysis and reconciliations of balance sheet and bank accounts for the District and ensure accurate recording of transactions being recorded by journal entry initiated by many sources. This position plays a major role in the production of the CAFR and/or Single Audit.

- Collaboration with teams in the District to ensure accurate financial reporting for the District.

- Manage that new locations and programs are set up in the District\u2019s ERP system and accounting units are set-up to ensure proper financial transparency with District reporting.

- Research and document recommendations on governmental accounting standards, new pronouncements and proposed accounting treatments, with an emphasis on GASB and generally accepting accounting principles.

- Participate in the preparation of the Data Pipeline submission to the State of Colorado Department of Education.

- Participation CAFR and Single Audit for the District. Responsibilities include preparation and review of PBC items and footnote disclosures.

- Review analytics for capital related activity in all District Funds. This includes analysis that all assets meeting the District\u2019s capital asset threshold is properly applied and accounted for appropriately.

- Review payroll reconciliation monthly for all District Funds.

- Collaboration with payroll , benefits and operations management teams and customer service among departmental teams.

- Establish and maintain procedures for accounting for assigned funds and projects.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- 5+ years experience in accounting.

- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.

- Demonstrated experience performing as an effective leader and team player, and recognizing and resolving conflicts or potentially controversial situations through diplomacy.

- Outstanding facilitation and communication skills, including ability to inspire others.

- Ability to communicate diplomatically, persuasively, effective oral, written and presentation skills.

- Ability to motivate and influence others.

- Strong organizational and analytic skills and strong attention to detail.

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead a high-performing team.

- Ability to multi-task and juggle management of several high-priority projects in parallel.

- Experience in a governmental accounting setting (school district accounting preferred).

- Experience in CAFR and/or Single Audit.
