Utilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration the School Counselor promotes student success by providing preventive services and responding to identified needs through implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program that helps guide all learners in their academic success, personal and social development, and career and college planning.
AS an Elementary School Counselor, YOU WILL ...
  • Deliver individual and group guidance curriculum supporting student development;
  • Analyze student data and develops data-driven programs for intervention action plans;
  • Provide responsive services to individuals or groups on academic and personal issues;
  • Provide an individual planning system to guide students toward post-secondary goals;
  • Assist students in the acquisition of study skills, academic opportunities and benefits;
  • Provide a support system that strengthens the efforts of teachers, staff, and parents;
  • Support standardized testing program; parent education; and staff development.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning.
Requirements
Minimum required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Counseling Services or School Counseling
  • Three (3) years of experience in counseling and/or advisement OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: Appropriate, valid State certification for a school counselor.
OTHER REQUIRED qualifications
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time
  • Ability to pass required background check
desired QUALIFICATIONS
  • Elementary teaching experience or other substantial experience working with proposed age group.
  • Creative problem solver.
  • Creative lesson designer.
  • Data driven.
  • An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g., database and web-based tools).
  • Experience with distance learning.
  • Experience with Local, State , and Federals laws and mandated reporting
