ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Vanderhoof Elementary School is truly an amazing neighborhood school serving 400 students in grades K-5. We are located in the Arvada West area of Jefferson County. We are proud to have a well-rounded educational experience for our students.

Our teachers empower students to take control of their own education by offering choices in and outside of the classroom. Vanderhoof students are self-directed learners and citizens who contribute positively to their communities by partnering with one another to address school issues. Students are members of a digital community that use technology as a tool to communicate, collaborate and innovate.

Hourly Rate: $1.00, Annual Rate: $2,080

RESPONSIBILITIES

Summary: Provide classroom support and supervision of students under the direction of the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

-Work with individual or small groups of students to support & reinforce teacher prepared lesson plans.

-Organize and prepare materials and resources to support classroom activities as assigned by the teacher.

-Supervise and manage student behavior as assigned.

-Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma/GED required.

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in a school setting preferred.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT: Basic language, math, writing and communication skills. This position requires ability to make decisions and follow instructions of the classroom teacher and school guidelines. This position requires communication skills, ability to work with groups of students and ability to work independently. Knowledge of general office equipment preferred. Daily contact with persons in the same work unit or building and provides service to students and parents. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to analyze, communicate and use interpersonal skills. Frequently required to compare, copy, coordinate, compute and compile. Occasionally required to synthesize, evaluate and negotiate. Decision making requires collaboration with supervisor. Duties require cross training in office equipment including use of computers.

Physical Requirements: Medium exposure of self to bruises and cuts or injuries due to interaction with students. Low exposure of self due to bodily fluids (gloves are provided). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
