BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Minimum qualification of a high school diploma or general education (GED) and three years of work experience in general bookkeeping or accounting keeping detailed financial records; or any combination of experience and training that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

  • Knowledge of general accounting and budgeting principles; including the ability to analyze, verify, and reconcile financial records.


  • Ability to compile data for financial reports.


  • Ability to compile annual budgetary projections and detailed information for budget management and allocation purposes.


  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to successfully navigate accounting software.


  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

This is a highly-skilled position responsible for the financial record keeping of large governmental awards and grants. The work includes budgeting; maintaining financial records; ordering and receiving of supplies; reviewing time and leave documents; and financial report preparation. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Director.

DIMENSIONS:

Grade 7

7.5 hours/day

This position requires fleixbility in working non-tradtional hours to support the Aquatics Center activities. This may include evening and weekend hours during the peak of high school swim season.

This position requires a full background investigation which includes a review of current credit score. Credit score must be 660 or better.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

Include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Work collaboratively with all stakeholders in Providing A World-Class Education.
  • Liaison with Financial Services for the management of federal, state, and local grants awarded to the Division.
  • Maintain departmental and grant budgets to include preparation, projections, and the monitoring of spending.
  • Provide statistical data for evaluation throughout the year, during the annual budget process, and for any ongoing administrative review.
  • Assist program managers and school bookkeepers with understanding specific financial requirements related to individual grants and programs managed by central office.
  • Coordinate allocations of centrally managed funds to schools and monitor expense data to assure compliance with federal/state regulations and policies.
  • Prepare and submit monthly grant reimbursement and budget transfer requests to the appropriate government accounting system.
  • Review financial documents submitted by schools to ensure costs are allowable, correct, and complete. Develop or secure supporting documentation to prepare subsequent required financial forms or reports.
  • Prepare and process departmental purchases following PWCS purchasing regulations and guidelines.
  • Manage and reconcile Division procurement cards for the department.
  • Review and input departmental time and leave requests, maintain accurate records, and run payroll reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


SALARY:
Hiring Range: $38,046 - $52,102/year ($20.29 - $27.79/hour)

DAYS: 250
