Job Summary:
The SIOP Coach will play an essential role in the SIOP Model implementation process by providing stability and consistency to this professional development initiative. The
coach's encouragement and support will help teachers develop and maintain fidelity to the SIOP model of delivery of instruction.

Knowledge of:

• The CELP Standards;
• The SIOP Model - Making Content Comprehensible for English Learners;
• Best Practices to SIOP Coaching - Implementing the SIOP Model Through Effective Professional Development and Coaching;
• Classroom Implementation of the SIOP Model - Implementing Effective Instruction for English Learners;
• Differentiating Instruction and Assessment for English Learners;
• SRBI and English Learners using the SIOP Model;
• Alignment of the CELP Standards with the Common Core State Standards;
• The WIDA "Can-Do Statements" - Progress Indicators for English Learners;
• Data Wise and Data Teams' philosophy and practice.

Qualifications:

• Experience leading SIOP Coaching Cycles and strong ESL/ELD teaching experience at the elementary school level;
• Valid CT TESOL teaching certificate (111) AND,
• Preferred: Valid CT Elementary Education teaching certificate;
• Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience with English learners (ELs);
• Minimum of five (5) years as a SIOP Coach leading SIOP Coaching Cycles and providing SIOP professional development at the elementary school level;
• Experience training staff on Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP);
• Ability to implement and monitor best practices in second language acquisition;
• Ability to work within and across departments and grade spans;
• Ability to utilize technological resources;
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members;
• Ability to adhere to project timelines.
